When your child math is not up to par, you look for a math tutor, not a cobbler.
Everyone knows that but how many of you practice it?
Two weeks ago, a couple came for free floor plan analysis. Following are our conversation.
Me: Jeremy, any reason you purchased this house? Is it near your children’s school or to your parents?
Jeremy: No, my wife saw an advertisement, and it is cheaper than all other houses of the same sizes we saw, and hence we asked my father for advice, as it is below the market price, so he encourages us to take it.
Me: Is he a property agent or environmental analyser?
Jeremy: No, my father owns a car workshop, Master next time you need to service your car, can look for him.
Me: Sure. Pass me his name card. But on the subject of your property, does your family experience some kind of hardship in the year 2011 / 1999 or is your eldest son a little difficult compared to your other children, or any liver, leg issues in the family?
Jeremy: The year 1999, my ex-wife divorced me for another man, and my business failed, and I was made a bankruptcy. The year 2011, my current wife had a miscarriage. Our eldest son is autistic.
Me: When you want to buy a car would you seek advice from your father?
Jeremy: Yes, my father is very experienced and knows all about cars.
Me: Exactly, this is because your father is a car expert, but he is not an environmental nor is he a property expert. I am not saying your father is not a wise man, but don’t you think it would be better if you ask for professional advice before signing on the dotted line for an S$1.3 million property?
